Going to see movies

I feel like a lost tradition is actively going to see a movie in theaters. Unlike plays, although this varies, you can see a movie on demand at home or really anywhere: causing them to, in my view, lose significance.

This sentiment was brought to my attention when I brought one of my friends to see My Neighbor Totoro in theaters. They've been showing them over the course of an event called "Ghibli Fest," and since I've never seen them before I thought "what better time?." The one downside to this event however was the fact they constantly complained about going to the theater rather than watching it at their house. Of course it's cheaper to watch it at home but, having never seen it, I wanted to watch it on the "big screen."

In my opinion, if I'm going to experience something meaningful- which Ghibli Films seem to be for many people -then I'd like to watch it in the theaters because... that's where I'd prefer to watch movies.

I think what I learned from this experience was just to go alone next time...

Although I did go alone to see Kaguya in theaters, and that was quite lonely with the many couples and friends surrounding me. At one point they were asking amongst one another if I had truly gone alone and that brought another thought to me.

"THEY KNOW I CAN HEAR THEM RIGHT!?!?!??!??"

wait. no.

Doing activities alone is frowned upon, isn't it?

Going to the movies is for friends, sitting down at a local restaurant is for families, bowling- maybe everything is for groups of people. \

Still- if no one wants to go then what am I supposed to do rather than not going alone?

Oh no, it's 3:30 in the morning... I should go to bed now...

p.s. i liked Totoro, the music was very fun :3
