My 2000s inspired desktop!!

Hey guys!! If u took a look at my profile for more than 5 seconds then u could probably tell than im OBSESSED with everything 2000s, including tech! I absolutely love the fun, skeuomorphic, frutiger aero-y look of the web, apps, operating systems etc from the 2000s-early 2010s era, compared to the bland, lifeless, minimalist design that has been plaguing our devices for over half a decade now

My favorite example of the frutiger aero aesthetic would be windows vista. Not only because of the glossy, eye candy design but also because i grew up with it so its really nostalgic to me. My first operating system was windows XP but i hardly have any memory of using it because we only used it for a short time before my family switched to vista on the family pc. Even as a kid i LOVED windows vista and the sleek design even though it was sluggish at times. I have so many fond memories of me playing roblox & crappy flash games on internet explorer and listening to songs on windows media player and being HYPNOTIZED by the trippy visualizations it would play in the background, and thats why windows vista holds a special place in my heart <3

So me being the nostalgic, 2000s loving bitch i am, i decided to make my laptop look as retro as possible! My laptop already runs windows 7 which is already pretty retro, but not good enough, so i stepped up a notch and made it look EXACTLY like windows vista! This is the end result:

I didnt know what wallpaper to put so i just chose one of the default vista wallpapers LOL. I just love how it turned out!! Now my laptop can be stuck in 2009 as well <3

FYI if you're wondering how i did it check out this tutorial! And please follow the steps VERY CAREFULLY!! You could potentially screw up your computer if u dont know what u're doing... speaking from experience x_x

Zayd	1686335496 You should try out GNU/Linux with KDE Plasma. You can achieve an even more accurate look on there and be able to blend it with your own ideas more easily. Report Comment
Intira' Ebdül	1686299725 If your laptop is x64 and you have a USB Drive / Portable drive, you could install Windows Vista x64 and install the extended kernel to make it more realistic (there are a lot of tutorials on how to install vista and the extended kernel) The extended kernel is only there to trick games and apps into thinking that your computer is not running Windows Vista.
