Starting Over

I chose a weird path for my life and career. Filmmaking is all I've wanted since I was a teenager. I went to film school right out of high school. I thought hitting the ground running was the way to go... I went to an Art Institute, specifically the one in Nashville. I met some great people there, and a couple of my teachers were great...but it wasn't the experience I had hoped for.

At the age of 20 I got married. At 24 I became a father. At 27 I lost my 2nd son. At 30 I almost lost my marriage. At 31 I had my third son, lost my home in a flood, and relocated to an entirely new state where I knew only two people. At 33 I moved back home with my wife and two kids. I have made only a couple of short films in that time.

It's time to start again.

This year I have set the goal of completing three short films and then beginning preproduction on my first feature-length microbudget movie "Strange Visitors." I have an amazing group of friends who are there for me and will help me make things happen.

It's weird to be re-embarking on my dreams at 33, but I know in my heart that having my family as early as I have in my life will ultimately be a benefit. It's been tough, but I've experienced so much of life already that some who get their dream careers right out of school haven't. That will be my advantage.

I'm so ready.
