summer reminds me that i am a girl again
whenever people ask my my favorite season, i always say it's winter
i like the frigid air and the snow
but i don't think that winter is always kind to me
it turns me into something cold, hollow, wolfish
i lie under my covers for days on end and growl at people who come near me
my heart ices over
but summer is familiar
i get to wear shirts that show my stomach and shorts that hug my thighs without it feeling strange
giving the sun my skin, saying thank you to the world for my body
i walk across the burning sidewalk, barefoot
as my mother waters the flowers in the garden
spraying the backs of my legs with the hose
i am girl and the warm summer nights make me sweat
but i don't mind it at all

Such a comforting poem and very fitting especially since summer is only a few days away!! Real excited to wear shirts that show my tummy and shorts that hug my thighs :3!!!!
