limbless (part II)

I reach down and play with the creature at my feet

It’s silent wet tongue, leaves blood on my hand

that is what it looks like to want

a deformity, an ill limbless animal

I know nothing about you other than what you tell me

what my sisters and I wonder about you

curious like phillosiphers, sung like song

and when I’m reminded of how little one can truly share with another

I wish to become you

Just for a minute, to inhabit your memories, your own desires

to have them fill and replace mine

flesh is the boundary and the bridge

you held me once, my body contorted, but i’de never been so safe

for a moment, in my mind, we were one

and in that moment, the creature grew limbs
