Fun on Our Nameday

Yes yes, I wasn't the only one to celebrate my nameday today. My boyfriend is celebrating his name on the same day as I do!

Some people here may not know exactly what a nameday is, so I'll drop the definition real quick:

❝ In Christianity, a name day is a tradition in many countries of Europe and the Americas, among other parts of Christendom. It consists of celebrating a day of the year that is associated with one's baptismal name, which is normatively that of a biblical character or other saint. Where they are popular, individuals celebrate both their name day and their birthday in a given year. ❞

For me and my bf, we celebrate on the feast day of Orthodox saints Helen & Constatine. My second name is Helen, and his is Constantine (Konstantinos/Kostas). We are not Orthodox Christians but shhhh xDDDD.

When one has their nameday, they receive gifts and wishes by loved ones, and sometimes the whole family gathers up for a feast (like my neighbours who just love loud music as early as 10AM xD). Personally, I really don't enjoy family gatherings< I always thought they were extremely stressful and sadly we were forced in them since we were kids. Thankfully, I got to celebrate quietly with my bf and exchange our gifts!

Our first stop was a place at Syntagma called "Choureál"! They specialize in profiteroles and éclairs. Despite looking small, they are ridiculously filling so the extra éclair was an overkill xDDDD. Definitely going back for that éclair. Love my bf just waiting for me to take a picture xDDD.

I received the perfect gift! This is a new doll line I started collecting called Glo-Up Girls and I've been wanting this one specifically to start off. She's absolutely stunning and I'm super grateful! Btw, "@maris_dollies" is my Instagram account specifically for posting my dolls in case you wanna check that out!

I mean look at her! Gorgeous! These dolls also have ankle articulation, which dolls I've collected so far typically don't have so that surprised me!

Our day wouldn't be complete without a cute animal! This doggo belongs to a nice homeless man and her name is Sushi :>. It's not obvious here but miss girl was built like a baked bean.

Celebrated once again with the beef and bok choy noodle soup from DaPanda.

Overall, the day was very chill. Aside of a random mental breakdown I had towards the end of the evening (cuz trauma works like that sometimes), all was cool. We watched some funny videos, laughed, etc. My bf loved his gifts too: I got him a new comic, a cute magnet, and I also made a large drawing and a card for him. I made the drawing in celebration of him hitting over 1.1k subs on his YouTube channel, couldn't be more proud! 

Sometimes, celebrations don't need to be anything big, you just need the one you love the most! Never feel forced to attend gatherings and see people you don't want to celebrate with. Do your own thing always <3.
