poundcake & family

does anyone else have a relative who makes something incredibly specific that as you got older, you began enjoying making too? mine is poundcake. my grandma on my dad's side makes the absolute BEST homemade poundcake which she always gives to us whenever we come up north to visit, i still have no clue her recipe but i've developed a... secret? one of my own  it's a lemon poundcake thats completely allergen friendly.. hers is just a normal poundcake, but i swear, she does something special to it, its so dang delicious! i could clear a whole one within 5 minutes EASY if i really wanted to. 

i used to give the poundcake that i make to my church as a gift when i was 16, they also loved my cookies! i always thought my family had no traditions, but i guess, poundcake technically counts as one, doesnt it? fun fact, me and my grandma share a birthday (technically,) mine is on the 9th while hers is on the 10th, so we began saying mines on both days because me and her want to share one, how nice is that? me & my grandma arent the absolute closest given how far i live, but her poundcake will always be part of me, and thats why poundcake is my favorite, its so time consuming to make, but i'll make it forever and ever.
