But it never came. As tears rolled down his face and his body relaxed he felt a weight lifted from him. He realized that a weight had been lifted off of him, as he opened his eyes the beast had gotten off of him and was now staring at him. Even though fear had still rolled though his body, he couldn't help but feel mainly confused.

The creature had fully gotten off of Gray and had sat down in front of him, simply staring at him. Gray was thoroughly confused and simply because of his dazed state he said something to it.

“W-why did..” Gray stammered before immediately shaking his head.

This is insane. I shouldn't be talking to this thing, I should-

But his thought was cut off when the creature motioned to something.

“What..” he said quietly as he looked to see when the creature was motioning at.

He looked to the floor next to him and in the dark he made out the fire poker that he had dropped. He looked back to the creature in front of him, now curious. He slowly went to pick the fire poker up. As his hand went closer to the weapon the cryptid had growled deeply and its feathers running along its body had begun to perk back up. Gray immediately moved his hand back. The creature returned to staring at him, their big yellow eyes staring into his blue ones.

Gray simply looked at this thing now ahead of him, absolutely gobsmacked at this situation he had found himself in. This unknown monster Looking creature was now across from him and was not doing anything. He had sat there, wondering what to even do in this situation. Should he run? Scream? Stay?

As he thought he realized that there was something sticky on his shirt. In fact, something sticky was present all throughout the house, he just couldn't see it through the dark. Now, as his eyes adjusted, he could finally see what it was. A large pool of blood had formed on his shirt and droplets of it had sprinkled all throughout the cabin. At first fear shot through him again, but then he realized that it wasn't him that was bleeding. His eyes looked up to the creature in front of him when it suddenly let out a small noise that almost sounded like a whimper. He had caught a glimpse of one of the cryptids' wings, only to see that it was colored slightly red with blood.

“A-are you hurt?”

Gray felt like an idiot, asking this thing in front of him if it was ok. He felt like he was going insane. What made him think the thing even understood him? And even if it did, what was he going to do? Help it? That's beyond crazy. This thing was just about to kill him just a few seconds ago, it would probably just kill him after he helped it.

Maybe they were just scared because of the fire poker… the thought lingered in his mind.

As Gray was lost in thought, the cryptid  had suddenly tried to move closer, making Gray jump up to his feet.

“D-Don’t move!”  Gray said, startled by the sudden movement.

The creature had stopped moving, apparently listening to Gray’s command.

This. is. Crazy.

“...ok. This is..fine.” Gray backs up ever so slightly, almost slipping on the blood still fresh on the ground.

“I'm going to…I'm going to go look for my first aid. Y-you just..stay here.”
