reading: Digital Fortress by Dan Brown
This is perhaps the worst thing I've ever read by Dan Brown.
That.
Or, I'm more aware of the content now that I've read really, really, well done novels. Angels and Demons and the DaVinci Code were both books I read when I was in high school. I loved them, I thought them to be artfully done mysteries. I was focused on the passage of the mystery, not of the very bizarre relationships that Brown crafts between his characters. That takes an absolute forefront in Digital Fortress. And, maybe it's because he's writing from a woman's perspective.
I'm only about 35 pages in, but already I can't ignore the absurd recurrence of "firm breasts and flat abdomen"
Like OKAY DAN we get it you need your women to be smart and skinny. 'Perfect' body and 'perfect' brain. Dream lady. Cool. It's gross. I hate it. It immediately removes me from the story.
Powering through, as I've an interest in this nineties/naughts perception of technology and that's the era but damn, Danny B, if does feel a tid bit mysoginistic.
