i am going to soon move into a building that allows pets, and i am very excited! (((o(*゚▽゚*)o))) it has been a while since i have owned a pet. my previous pet, a dog named max, was more of a family pet than my own but now it's just me! o(≧∇≦o) having an animal at home has always helped me to feel much less alone. i used to sleep with my dog at the foot of my bed every night, which would help me fall asleep.
my partner has always wanted a ferret, and though i've not thought of them much previously i have since been sent many videos and have warmed up to the idea of them. any pet is a serious commitment and a lot of work!! ferrets are no exception. they have a very strong smell, and thrive in groups (so you can't just get one!) ʢ• ͡•ʢ• ͡•ʢ• ͡•ʡʢ• ͡•ʢ• ͡•ʢ• ͡•ʡ
i also previously owned 2 cats, who live with my parents now. they're the most low-maintenance pet i've ever had, and in my experience have been largely self-sufficient. they're very independent and easygoing ฅ^≗ω≗^ฅ but i also found them to not be very affectionate... sometimes i felt like they were just tolerating my presence (˘̩̩̩̩̩̩^˘̩̩̩̩̩̩ )
adding a new member to my family sounds like a nice change of pace from my current daily habits. i tend to do the same things every day, and i struggle to try new things. in preparation for the move, there have been many things to do and recently i have been going to bed very tired every night ( ´。`) and there is still lots to do. the list never ends! thinking about cats and ferrets makes me feel better when i am in a bad mood.
regardless of which animal i end up getting, i would like to buy lots of hats for them. all animals are much cuter with a hat on (*ノ´>ω<。`)ノ

Oooh sounds like a tough decision. I know a friend who has four ferrets, and as wonderful as they are to hang out with, I know he has a LOT to deal with. Cleaning up after them, making sure they don’t get into everything, etc etc. Not to dissuade you, but a ferret or two could be very stressful after a move. Ofc cats can be rascals too, but like u said, mostly self sufficient, and not a lot of special care. If u do get ferrets, join a support group! Discord servers, subreddits, there’s tons of information out there and it can be very rewarding once you’ve adjusted to the little rapscallions!!
