Musings of a budding author

Hi! I’ve always been a voracious reader. You know, attending all of the pizza parties and ice cream socials in elementary school. Iykyk. I had always thought I would write a book. Over the years, ideas hit but I never start writing. But this time!!! This time I started writing and I want to tell y’all how it’s going.

I have four chapters down on the page! It’s rough, of course. But I realized that if I went back and fixed grammar or changed structure, I’d lose my creative thought process. So if you’re just starting out or want to, I’ll tell you this is working for me. Get those creative juices on the page and don’t even worry about how horrid the grammar is.

I’ve also chosen two people I truly trust to read each chapter after I’ve gotten them written. I trust they won’t steal my work and I trust they’ll tell me what they really think. At this point, they’re begging me for the next chapter and the next one. Of course, they’re patient because sometimes I can get a chapter done in a day but other times it takes me a week.

And lastly, WRITE EVERY DAY. It doesn’t matter if it’s a sentence or a whole chapter or even the rest of your book. Just write. I’ll continue to keep blogging about it as I go. And hopefully this can help even one person.

Happy writing,
Bradi
