gender nonconformity + historical fashion in everyday life

I wonder if anybody else has had this experience:

I'm transmasc and in my everyday life, I like to express my masculinity through vests, cravats, elegant jackets, bow-ties and other stuff like that. I'm aspiring to start dressing in Victorian or at least Victorian-inspired clothing on a daily basis.
But I also think of myself as gender non-conforming - I like my feminine side, I want to grow out my hair, and do make-up, I love being flamboyant and with this dramatic flare, some would say my mannerisms are extremely feminine! I like the sensory feeling of being in skirts (especially the long ones) and I'd love to wear them more often and to mix them with my usual masculine attire.
My problem for the longest time was that I didn't feel good in "modern" dresses. When I tried on a dress in a shop I felt awful, like my skin was burning.
But then I understood where I made a mistake - why someone who feels the best in masculine historical fashion would feel good in modern feminine fashion?
I have to test this theory, but I think trying out more Edwardian-like dresses would feel a million times better! I love Edwardian dresses and they're (at least to me) similar in feel to the Victorian masculine fashion that I'm used to.

Did anybody else has had that experience? That when you present one way you wear fashion from one decade/era but when you want to present in another way you change the time period?

I dont have a solid idea on my gender identity (I just say Im queer/non-conforming to make it easy for me lol) but I totally get this!! For me, Im just pretty feminine overall (doesnt help that Im AFAB) and I really like goth fashion and historical fashion! Like my dream would be to have a closet full of Edwardian and Victorian clothing (both masculine and feminine; honestly maybe even a dash of Regency and definitely fantasy). Its just so classy, detailed, and overall beautiful!! Id still have modern clothes (for convenience) but I would like my everyday wear to look like a doll! I blame my fashion fixations (Crimson Peak, Peaky Blinders, Sherlock Holmes, and various social media influencers say hi). So awesome that you wanna branch out and just be comfortable and cool being you; supporting your journey!!

That sounds amazing! Regency is absolutely delightful :D And I totally relate to wanting to look like a doll! I myself aim to look like a book character or someone's funky historical OC - just a silly little guy breaking gender norms <3 And some modern clothes are a must - I mean, I imagine having to go quickly to a shop, but you have a low-energy day, how's one supposed to go for milk when you have to get into a dress+corset or full suit TwT
And I also got my fashion inspiration from Sherlock Holmes! But my getaway drug to historical fashion was my friend introducing me to "The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" - the book and the way that he talked about the time period it was created was so interesting I almost instantly sank into the Victorian era hyperfixation xD
Also, I hope you get to assemble your dream wardrobe as fast as possible - I keep my fingers crossed for you!!!
