DnD organisation system for GMs

Hi!!

I want to start by noting that I don't know if it's a 100% original idea/project or if I someone has done it before :]

I'm very new to playing DnD - I've listened to podcasts and watched youtube videos for the past 2-3 years. But now I'm a DM for four of my friends.

My memory is horrible, so I've been looking for a way to have all the info I might need on hand. Sure, I could just be looking up everything on dnd5e.wikidot.com - my the bible of all DnD knowledge - but it's time-consuming and often nerve-wracking. If you're in the middle of the combat, it's impractical to stop every turn to check what in the name of gods' does "thunderclap" do and to ask about your player's AC. It's just boring, to sit and wait for your GM to finally find the right article. Keeping notes in a notebook would be even worse (at least for me).

I wanted to try Obsidian to keep notes, but it's just a bit too confusing for me TwT

But there's one thing I'm really great at! Making presentations in Google Slides.

And Google Slides has one wonderful function - linking slides. So now I'm in the process of making an interactive presentation with all info segregated into categories. I have everything from PCs, NPCs, their spells and stats to species, puzzles and places available in my campaign!

Every PC has their own slide, with the most essential info like their name, level, class and species, a link to a slide that I'll be filling out with their stats, another one leading to a slide with their spells, another with proficiencies etc etc

It's fun to make, and you can fully customise everything from the background of the presentation to the names you use for spells. For example, I and my players are Polish, so I translate everything, and sometimes we change names for something goofy (especially when it comes to the spell names).

I just really recommend it if you have a hard time keeping notes in a "typical" way or if you're tired of looking up everything on the DnD wiki :] Please tell me if you try this idea, and most importantly: have fun if you do!!
