Mori Kei Aesthetic

Hi Yall! In today's blog, I'll be covering an aesthetic I came across on TikTok.

The "Mori Kei" aestheitc.

The Mori Kei aesthetic was created in Japan around 2006-2007, by an internet user named Choco. She talked about the 'whimsy meets cozy' fashion style on the social media platform Mixi, gaining 36,000 members during the trend's peak. While researching the aesthetic I learned that the original post contained not only 60 rules to achieve not only the aesthetic but the lifestyle that corresponds to it. Though you can't access it without making a Mixi account yourself, Mixi users have uploaded it to various platforms. Here's the one I found: 60 step list

Throughout my research of the Mori Kei aesthetic, here are the things I see included in the fashion (and a couple things on the list):

- Flat-soled ankle, calf, or knee-high boots

- Loose-fitting one-piece dresses

- Layered skirts

- Layered lace cardigans

- Layered cardigans

- Natural and earthy ones (greens, light and dark browns, soft pinks and cremes)

- A-line silhouettes

- Ear muffs

- Tights and leggings

- Flats

- Mary Jane-style shoes

The places I recommend shopping for this aesthetic are:

- Romwe

- Aliexpress

- Etsy

- Forestgirlclothing

- Yesstyle

-Ebay

- Depop

- Thrift stores

- Amazon

- Doc Martins

- Jeffrey Campbell

I've also seen outfits INSPIRED by this aesthetic with smaller (and sometimes mini) skirts, blouses, and layered thin cardigans. Either way, wear what you want, I personally LOVE the long skirt aspect of this aesthetic, it makes me want to buy a few.

I also made a Pinterest board with images of the aesthetic as well as links to a few things you can buy to start your Mori-Kei wardrobe! Have a lovely day and thanks for taking the time to read my blog! Comment if I got anything wrong please! <<<3
