Part 2 of this thing I wrote
Gray's eyes lingered on the picture of himself in front of the cabin. He gave a forced smile as his mom took the picture, excited that her baby was already 20 years old and moving away. To his new home. Technically the cabin was his, but it didn't feel like it. It didn't feel like home, just something temporary. Everything felt temporary now.
He thought the cabin could help him remember what's so great about life, but it didn't really change him, if anything it only made him worse. Being almost completely sealed off from reality, and the only real form of life is a small town 40 miles away. That wouldn't heal a broken heart, it just makes it colder.

Gray looks out the car window, having just arrived up the mountain. It was a bit of a rocky journey, with all of the snow and ice on the makeshift road, but they finally made it.
“Oh my goodness baby! Look! It's beautiful isn't it?” Gray's mom cooed as she turned to look at him.
He only shrugged. Yes , it was nice, but he had… other things on his mind. His mom's smile faded a bit at his lackluster reaction. She put a hand on his leg for some reassurance.
“...are you still thinking about-”
“No! I’m-” Gray snapped. “-I..I'm just a bit tired from the trip. Thanks for coming with me mom.”
His mom let out a weak sigh. She knew he was lying, but she also knew this was still a new and hurtful topic for him to talk about.
“It's no problem sweetie, you know I'm always here for you…”
Gray only gave a nod before getting out of the car.
He gave a harsh shiver as the cold had pinched at his nose and forced its way into his lungs. He knew it would be cold out here but not that cold. He didn't have lots of winter clothing at the time so he was practically bare naked in the cold with only a thin sweater hardly protecting him.
“Oh dear! Sure is cold! “ His mom said, shivering slightly, ”Honey, why did you choose to move out here? This is so much different from florida!”
Gray shrugged.
“I don't know… I just think I needed to get away. Just.. from everything.”
His mom nodded understandably.
“It's alright sweetie.” She then reached on top of the small car they rode in and grabbed some luggage that was strapped on the roof, “now, lets get everything inside!”
Gray nodded and quietly picked up his suitcase and walked to the cabin.
