Introduction

Hello fellow writers/authors!

I wanted to pop on here and discuss what I will be posting on spaceyhey in the near future. Consider this an introduction to me and my upcoming blog posts, where I share all the information I have gathered on world-building, character arcs, plot structure and so much more! I will also be citing sources and recommending books on the craft of writing.

Who am I?

I'm an unpublished writer from Massachusetts. My genres have changed over the years from paranormal romance, fanfiction, fantasy/fantasy romance and romance. I also have written in a diary since---sheesh eight or nine. I started creating stories in the fifth grade---so about ten or eleven years old and throughout the 20 or so years I have written almost consistently. It wasn't until recently that I realized I still had a lot to learn. So I started to get my hands on whatever craft books or writing content that I could.

Pantser or Plotter?

Growing up I have always written by the seat of my pants. I would come up with an idea and would see where I could go with it. In high school I would post on multiple forums and had one successful werewolf-romance called Sophia-Raine.  Last year, I had written a whole 50,000+ word manuscript about a girl seeking revenge for her sister and parents after a dragon had burned down her village. It will never see the light of day, but I had written it all through pantsing.

I am a firm believer that your first draft should be about getting your story onto the page. My first drafts are almost always a dumpster fire and it isn't until rounds of editing that I actually start to see its true potential. I think that's where believing in your story comes in.

The last year I have realized that pantsing was no longer working for me. I started to crave structure. I had heard about 3 Act, 5 Act, 7 Act structure and while they were all great, I just didn't feel like I had my story fleshed out enough to move forward. Then I heard about the Save-The-Cat method. I instantly ran to my local B&N and bought the book written by Jessica Brody. I'm currently using this method to plot my next romance novel with the working title "The Letters You Wrote."  Wish me luck!

Something to Note!

Okay, enough about me. Lets get to the point.

1. Some of the advice and concepts that I will be posting will be subjective---which means it is totally up to your discretion on whether you believe it to be true or want to inherit it into your practice. Just because it is written in a craft book, does not mean that it will work for you! And you may not agree with everything I share.

2. The whole point of my post is to ignite discussion and bring this community together! I will be extremely disappointed if this positive learning space turns sour. Please be kind if you choose to comment.

3. Be open to CONSTRUCTIVE critism. Most critism isn't all that bad and can actually give you insight on area's you could improve on. With that said, try to be considerate of your peers.

4. Have fun!
