The MCR concert at the Reading Festival in 2006 seems wonderful to me. The audience threw bottles at them throughout their performance (they played right after Slayer), but far from feeling intimidated and with their egos shattered, they gained more and more strength with each song.
I especially love their performance of "Thank You For The Venom", which fits perfectly with the bottle throwing. As Frank and Gerard blew kisses to the audience, Gerard acted by asking for more bottles during the part that goes:
"So give me all your poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
To make me ill
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will"
Not to mention Gerard's ironic smile at 12:27, or Frank drinking some water and then throwing his own bottle.
It's wonderful to see how they didn't care about the booing and how they were aware of how good they were, and with the people who supported them, that was enough. You can tell that they are a group of outcasts who are so used to being despised that they have learned to love themselves and ignore their enemies. Any other band would have left the stage, but they stayed there.
It's for these reasons that this band seems very inspiring to me, and there's a lot we can learn from them.
