Spit - Poppy

can we talk about what a great cover this was?? like i liked 'Church Outfit' for what it was (enjoying it more on the re-listen tbh) but THIS was so good!! it incorporates this new electronic sound Poppy's been using so well into her pre existing stuff, 

i love that u can draw her influences from her back catalogue (reminds me of '3.14' in that way) the experimental/ electronic elements of the 'I Disagree' album, intensity + heaviness + screaming of songs like the 'EAT' EP with the lyricism feeling like 'Flux' (Ik she didn't write them but it feels fitting. makes sense seeing as we saw first glimpses of its production what over a year ago now!)

The breakcore drums + the screaming + high tempo + the rising and falling guitar + that wailing siren + the whole energy of it all. it makes for really fun listening

even though i think her trans-genre identity is really engaging Poppy has such a strong suit in metal so anything even spiritually successing 'Blood money', 'Say Cheese' ect is always gonna be on replay for me!
