     over my years in spotify, i have curated many playlists to my personal tastes despite having very limited knowledge of music.

    so, here's my playlist names and what it's for. most of them are named after drinks since i used to work in a restaurant.

1. bleach 

     this playlist is for my nights of drowning the sadness away. 

2. b̶r̶i̶x̶ 

     this playlist was dedicated to my first boyfriend, now ex, who goes by the name brix. he's an aspiring doctor hence the playlist description. we lasted for 14 months, until i broke up with him.

3. matilda

     in the year 2022, i was able to ask my mother for a cheap digital keyboard in exchange for my high grades in school. i named it 'matilda', after leon kennedy's custom gun in resident evil 4. it was said to be named after a girl named matilda in an old movie "leon: the professional". this keyboard was my second instrument i could proudly call my own, the first one being a lyre since i used to be a lyrist for our local marching band. despite being cheap, it's one of my few prized possessions and i probably won't throw it away even if i would be able to buy a grand piano someday.

4. red wine 

classical music! i listen to these while studying since lyrics usually distract me.

5. sesh

the term ‘sesh’ is a shortened version of the word ‘session’. these are songs to play along with my friend’s acoustic band since i do a tiny bit of keyboard.

6. brandy 

brandy is pretty much everyone’s to-go alcohol drink here in the philippines, alongside gin. i used to suffer from a drinking problem years back, and i would waste all my time drinking brandy while smoking cigarettes to avoid being sober. i’ve recovered from that, but when there comes the times where i feel like relapsing again, i would instead listen to this playlist that imitates the feeling of being drunk all the same. without the hangover.

7. cognac

cognac isn’t very popular for kids my age, but it’s an alcoholic drink nonetheless. here’s a playlist for rotting with emotional support from mushrooms.

8. nicotine

you’d probably think, “hey, this isn’t a drink!”. rest assured i’m aware of that just as you are. similar to cognac, this is a playlist for rotting too except mushrooms don’t like cigarette smoke. mostly the weeknd songs, it’s my playlist whenever i feel like wanting to die off nicotine buzz. 

9. chocolate drink

this playlist is a tad bit different from my other playlists. it’s mostly mellow and ballad songs to listen to get high off that corny ass feeling of being in love with the idea of living, or loving someone.

10. soda 

around the age of computer shops, it was common for the youth to spend their hours playing lol or dota or whatever the hell their friends were playing. i was fortunate enough to witness that era, and these boys who play would always have the instant canton + soda combo as a snack as they play. here’s a playlist from the legendary game, lol.

11. freestyle 

i dance. a little. this is a playlist of random edm that hypes up my groove.

12. caffeine

similar to freestyle, this is a playlist of hype-up songs but mainly just to keep myself awake when having to travel long hours or keeping the hype up in the gym.

13. lambanog

lambanóg is a traditional filipino distilled coconut palm liquor that’s about as strong as vodka. this playlist contains activist songs made by my local kakolektibos. 

that’s all for now. despite the existence of these playlists, on normal days i just pick an artist that i would like to listen to and shuffle their songs. as of this writing, i usually go for zild, lana del rey, and deftones.
