Earlier today I was listening to a live version of straight to video by msi and Jimmy said "happy sweet 16!" before beginning the song and it took me a while but I finally realized what that line meant. So in case you didn't know, straight to video is about thinking of joining the corn (code word) industry when times are tough. Some actresses are recruited when they're 16 or 17. What I think Jimmy meant by that line is that once you're within that age range and you're hot enough, you could be tangled into the industry.
straight to video live <--- link to what I'm talking about
Anyways, onto the actual point of this, I've been interested in msi since about early last year. Since that point, I've bought a msi poster and the if album CD (both secondhand). At this point, I've grown apathetic to what the members of msi have done. I know they're horrible people, but I couldn't care less about them, I mainly focus on their music after all. It takes a while to realize, but msi as a whole is just a satirical act. For example, Frankenstein Girls and how horrible it did commercially. Frankenstein Girls is msi's second album, released in 2000. Msi didn't like major record labels, so they decided to waste money, time and hard work by making such a horrible sounding album like Frankenstein Girls. The album was just a mockery of the music industry as a whole.
Another example is You'll Rebel To Anything. You'll Rebel To Anything is msi's third album, originally released in 2005 in the US but released in 2008 for other countries. The album focuses on mocking msi's fanbase of the time, which was mainly mall goths. The first track, Shut Me Up, is Jimmy yelling at the listener to stop listening aka shutting him up. The title track You'll Rebel To Anything (As Long As It's Not Challenging) is Jimmy telling the listener that he's aware of his fanbase, and finds fun in mocking them.
One last example before I finally shut up about my interest in msi is some tracks on If. Never Wanted To Dance is the first track of the album, and it's about how Jimmy knows how his fans at the time treated him. Some fans at the time tried forcing themselves onto Jimmy, which he obviously found weird considering his fans were mainly preteens. The lyric line "I'm too cool for the second grade" refers to how his fans are much younger than him. The song also talks about how Jimmy isn't interested at all in his fans. Another track, Evening Wear, is about how fashion can allow you to express yourself, but it can also trap you in a uniform you're uncomfortable in. It isn't easy to understand the lyrics at first without the explanation, but once you understand what the song's about, you'll understand the lyrics. The last track on the album, Mark David Chapman is about how the music industry produces copycat bands to compete them against each other to see who comes out successful and who doesn't. In the song, it references how msi hates those bands and how it'd be better if every band was unique in its own way.
Okay I'm done with talking about my interest now you can stop reading and rest or take care of yourself.

This is awesome I always love reading about MSI, I also love how satirical their stuff is. Like for example pantyshot is making fun of pedos (kind of ironic how he was allegedly in a relationship with a minor) and I love how fgwsss was literally just the opposite of a commercial album - the songs were too long or too short, they used language that you can't really play on a radio, and at the end of the recording of the songs they supposedly 'ruined it' by messing up their mix of it (still one of the best albums I love it so much)
