Additive Theory

Additive Theory is an axiomatic concept within Naruto that I have created and/or unintentionally stolen. Although a presupposition in my current meta, I have arguments to back this ideaology up (see examples)

The concept is meant to better explain the power curve that manifests as time goes on.

The Theory: chakra modes and/or amps are additions to physical prowess / chakra supply rather than multipliers.

What this means: the "power level" of characters with chakra modes do not see multiplier benefits. This implies that as a character grows in base, their chakra mode becomes less and less affective from a percentage-of-power standpoint. This is not an improvement on intellegence or wisdom.

Examples:

1. Curse Mark: Originally stated as a 10x power boost (in its weakest form) when speaking about Jirobo, this chakra mode is meant to explain the dynamic between Sasuke / Jugo and their respective CM2 forms. This mode isn't a consistent 10x boost if the anime events are to be interpreted as they happen, i.e. Sasuke doesn't seem to actually be ten times as powerful or potent in battle. This can be explained if we are to interpret the curse mark as a power additive equal to 9 Jirobos. Jirobo's physical prowess is fairly decent and that power times nine is quite a powerful boost but becomes hardly noticeable in a fight with higher level ninja such as Deidara and Itachi.
2. Tailed Beast Modes: This power up is never directly stated to be a multiplier but seems to act as such in part 1 and early-mid Shippuden. The various tails seem to become less and less potent as Naruto grows in strength. This can be seen in the one tail and zero tail aura form. Land of Waves Naruto seems to grow from Genin level to Low-Mid Jonin level without even growing a tail whereas later in the Sasuke retrieval arc, that same zero tail aura form is more of a light rage amp.
3. Sage Mode: This power up was one of Orochimaru's biggest hills to climb and his creation of the Curse Mark ties into his inability to use Sage Mode. Considering they're both nature energy modes and CM2 is meant to be a 10x boost or more, Sage Mode should be massively above that boost. This clearly isn't a 10+x boost once War Arc picks up in steam as Post Pain KCM Naruto with a ten to twenty (or more) times boost would have drastically altered the battlefield. Keep in mind this Naruto should have the same physical prowess as the Deva Path in base, who is relative to the Six Tails. If KCM and Sage Mode were multipliers, with KCM being the better of the two buffs, this would be a double multiplier with both being well over 10x. This Naruto is not Six Tails with a 20x boost (or 100x if multipliers could stack) in practice.
