I finally got my braces off today!!!

Yep, that's right. Today, Thursday, May 4th, 2023 is the day that I finally got my my braces off.

The debonding procedure was pretty easy, as my orthodontist simply popped off each and every bracket, removed the molar bands, and cleaned the glue off of my teeth. Afterwards, I had 4 impressions taken of my mouth for the retainers to be made right before I had to go downstairs to get yet another panoramic x-ray. Luckily, I made sure to wear my bioflex labret studs in my snakebites and an acrylic nostril ring in my nostril, since you can't wear any metal jewelry above the neck for a dental x-ray.

It was amusing to see my teeth in the mirror without all those brackets and wires for the first time in literal years.

When I went back upstairs, my orthodontist took a final series of facial photos with a camera and then proceeded to make the Essix retainers I currently have in my mouth right before I left. Interestingly, these are only temporary retainers, and I will have to come back on Thursday, 6/1/2023 for my Hawley retainers.

I can't wait to see what my friends at school will think when they see me without braces, especially the ones who met me while I still had my phase 2 braces.
