For a good 420 laugh

A new-found friend of mine on here posted a bulletin about "kids these days" underage smoking the Mary Jane, and it gave me a good laugh. I mean someone thirty years or so younger than me complaining about kids these days, right?

So it made me think of those days back before, during Prohibition (and I'm truly sorry if you're still in a Dark Ages state) when none of us here in the Midwest had an easy time of it.

Back in those days, I rarely smoked at all. My theory was that the less I used the more it would work. But I was a Deadhead (Grateful Dead for those of you who don't know) so I was constantly around it. When we had it. The guy I was dating at the time tried to give me lessons on what "good weed" smelled and looked like so I could choose it myself, almost like the old movies where the woman's being taught how to pick a cigar for her man. Weird, but, yeah, that happened. Thing is, now that I know he seems so much more ridiculous!

His idea was that only the red string variety was good, and it had to smell like skunk. I suppose if we'd been in an area where good green was actually being raised, he might've had a better idea of what good pot was. Or hell, a subscription to High Times. But nope. I guess he just thought he was smart or something.

SO here's how ABSOLUTELY MFing DUMB we were!!! We got a bag that we were told was "Indigo." Yes, Indigo. NOT Indica. SMH. Sometimes I can't believe how naive I was! We were told it was called that because it had been confiscated by the police and tested for THC and the dye turned it PURPLE. Then it was stolen out of the lockup and sold on the street.

Yeah, go ahead, give me that "you're an idiot" look.

I mean, its HILARIOUS today. I have a Medical Marijuana card for my neuropathic pain, and I smoked more the first month with that card than I did in my entire high school/college career. I learned more about it with my first purchase than I ever did from that ex-boyfriend, any dealer or any Deadhead I knew at that time. So yes, now I know that Indica is one of two types of Marijuana, and my preferred type for the pain and insomnia to sleep at night. And yes, I am embarrassed but really, really, really amused at my younger self!

I wonder what that indigo really was!

:D Indica. A word I'm guessing none of us knew then, so it was replaced with the closest word we did know, which was Indigo. And that was before I'd ever heard of Indigo children, lol

Tangentially, I remember being a little kid and saying things were "rattlesnake!" because I'm guessing we didn't understand the word "radical" at that age.

That's adorable. I know I asked my parents if the big tomato was going to get us when we were sheltered in the basement in case of a...tornado...lol

Don't be too hard on yourself. I'm a decade older than you, I know your pain XD
I did buy the occasional High Times Magazine back in college, I love researching and weed is a never ending rabbit hole! XD

I think I might actually enjoy it now! My bestie has MS so she and I are *constantly* comparing notes about strains and effects, and tastes. I can't believe how much it helps, and how much I've developed the taste for it, too!

AND I'M SO GLAD TO FIND ADULTS!!! lol. I know, there are a lot of them but when I'm old enough to be their mom/grandma, its harder to think of them that way. :D

I know! You should add R+C and Killzgamatron, I'll think of more but wake & bake ya know! XD
I smoke 1) because I enjoy it and B) it controls my depression better than any man-made shit. I was really bad for years, therapy and drugs galore. Then I found a steady supply, smoked more and my depression just... *poof!* My therapist was stonkered! XD

R + C apparently found me :)

I got the med license for a diabetic neuropathy, but its been amazing for my insomnia as well. I have to be careful b/c I recently discovered I have ANXIETY. Like a year and a half ago when I actually had a panic attack in my PCP's office. I never knew that's what it was. *shrug* So far, the mints set me off, and I'm really cautious around Sativas.

ITS FREAKING AMAZING

Its been awesome for my anxiety as well. So has therapy :D wish I'd known all this years ago, but better late than never!

I enjoy it so much now! Honestly, never did before. And I was a cigarette smoker. Now, tho, no cigarettes, but man I love the smell of my stash box when I open it up! Gets me drooling every time! Life changes, doesn't it?

I quit a long time ago. 20 years, I think? But I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer five years ago. Thus began the "pity packs." I mean, I already HAD the cancer, right? But I made an agreement with myself that I would never do it again if it was all taken care of. And it was. So...the most recent quit is only like 5 years or so, give or take.
