Next chapter of my book

Tuesday 

Raven: h-hello mum

Mum: Hello, sweetheart.

Raven: Stop with the act, mum ; I’ve got something important to tell you.

Mum: All right, sweetheart.

Raven: mum.

Mum: sorry.  Go on.

Raven: I um I went to the hospital. My roommate noticed I was looking a bit pale.

Mum: Oh, dear, are you alright, sweetheart?

Raven: Mum, please be serious. We’re not in a play.

Mum: fine.  Be rude about it.

Raven: *deep sigh, both to calm myself and to collect my thoughts* I had to have my blood drawn. They kept me in the hospital for 3 days. Just to monitor me. You know, make sure I make a speedy recovery. I’m fine now.

Mum: Why are you telling me if you’re fine? Make me go through all this pain just to tell me you’re fine. You’re such a horrible child. You know that, don’t you?

Raven: you didn’t even let me finish. I haven’t got to the important part yet.

Mum: There you go again. Wasting my time. You really are horrible.

Raven: "I have an eating disorder." *I say, to shut her up. *

A pause

Mum: *laughter*

A pause

Raven: I have a therapist now. *I say, trying to ignore the laughter.

A pause

Mum: You weren’t joking?

Raven: no. No, I wasn’t.

Mum: aren’t those for 14 year old girls? *she says with a chuckle*

Raven: no.  Guys can have them too.

Mum: oh.

Raven: I’m hanging up now.

 

I hang up before she can protest. How could she be so inconsiderate. My eyes start to water. Everything blurs and I start to shake. A lump forms in my throat, I start to tear up. Tears stream down my face. With out thinking, I reach into my pocket, pull out my pencil sharpener and…
