Neurodivergent/ disabled/ queer folks did your schools and school systems fuck you over with homophobia, transphobia, ableist shit or is it just me? Because I feel like other people from all around the world have this horrible experience with schools, yet I can not confirm it.. because as a AFAB autistic student I’ve had HORRIBLE experiences with schools! The ableist students and teachers, the micro-aggressions and even the homo/transp
Did your school/ education system mess you up?

Oh absolutely. I was constantly getting in trouble with teachers getting mad at me for ASKING QUESTIONS? Because they always assumed I was being sarcastic, intentionally dumb, or annoying. A lot of things were awful about grade school. I'm glad it's long over for me, but stuff like that carries over into other life aspects, just in a different font, lol.

oh absolutely, i was talking to my therapist about this yesterday. school forces toxic positivity onto disabled students by telling them if they just believe in themself they can do anything, which entirely ignores the reality that disability literally Disables you in some way

definately. ill start by saying i am not diagnosed autistic however the symptoms are there so idk how helpful this is to u.
but the short answer is yes mainly for my anxiety issues and mental health in general
CW: for anxiety talk for the next part
my history teacher yelled so much that we hadn't been doing the homework for 3 weeks because he hadn't been checking it so nobody had bothered. and because of this I had a panic attack and had to leave the classroom for a while (I am 18 years old and this has happened before)
it has given me a lot of anxiety because I'm always scared that I'm not doing the right thing because if he doesn't take in homework, why would I do it? especially if I could use that time to revise more important topics.
on a lighter note, college brought in a therapy dog today 10/10 improved my day
