Lo and Behold (poem)

The clock finally rang at 4:30 in the morning

When the nightingale has gone to sleep

And the sky gets misty blue like before

And the belly of the sun rises

After a long night of waiting

I turn over, no face to behold

Just mine and mine

Just silence and solitude

By, and by

Lo and behold there once was a soul who rested beneath the sheets

Called this full sized bed a home

But now this empty feeling arises in my chest

And the sky gets misty blue like before

And the belly of the sun rises…
