A lot of people talk about how scenecore is a disgrace to scene and that we shouldn't participate in scenecore but I thought they were the same thing. I tried like looking it up but what I read said that it was the same thing. So I decided I should probably ask someone!! Plz help T^T I want to get into scene fashion and aesthetic but I dont want people to think I'm a poser DX
Can someone tell me the difference between scenecore and scene?

scenecore is poser version of scene
mainly gen alpha use the term since they weren't alive for the time scene was trendy

Scenecore is mainly something made on tiktok, itz just about the fashion nd has completely diff music then scene, scene is more focused on the music aspect nd partly the fashion, fashion isn't the core of the subculture, also scene has a weird history, itz entirely abt being weird nd a freak, while scenecore was kind of just glitterly kidcore tbh

this is mostly from me speaking as a sparkledog roleplayer in 2013-14 where i grew around the offshoots of it, but iirc “real scene” has a lot of influences from cybergoth, rave, and emo culture while scenecore is more of an aesthetic trend ….
