Journaling improved my life.

I will forever recommend journaling to everyone. Writing in a diary always interested me but I could never stick to it. Until one day, I finally decided I would.

The first step was to pick a notebook I really loved. I wrote all kinds of things. Vents, letters I'll never send, documenting my day, good advice, ideas. When I couldn't think of anything, I'd look up prompts or simply write down my favorite quotes or song lyrics. I would create lists too. A list of things I'm grateful for or what makes me happy. I'd write a small review of a new movie I watched or activities I tried.

But I didn't beat myself up if I just wasn't able to write that day. I just kept at it when I could. Journaling improved my mood, helped me remember things, & gave me clarity. I genuinely think it's aided in my growth as a person. It gave a certain romanticization to even the most mundane aspects of life.

Being the creatively-driven type, I made journaling extra fun by adding personalization. Stickers, flowers, different colored inks, sketches, photos, & various other scraps.

I now have a fire-safety box full of my used journals. Perhaps one day, I'll look over them as an elder.
