Anime Recommendations

I'd like to say that ever since I watched Egro Proxy and Serial Experiments Lain, I've been interested in knowing other series, either manga, visual novel, anime, or movie, similar to them. I'm such a big fan of whatever genres they happen to be, they have such an ethereal aura to them. Anything dealing with experimental, mecha, technology, robots, sc-fi, futurism, dystopia, etcetera, is what I gravitate towards.

I also appreciate any other recommendations too, that aren't the popular, well known kinds of works.
