twewy infodump!

hi guys !! i don't have the motivation to add all of my fancy css stuff especially since this is gonna be a rather big page but i've got quite a few special interests :^) the one that im really into most as of right now is twewy!!!

the world ends with you final remix (twewy/finrem) is a game published in 2007 created by square enix as a more experimental sort of side project compared to their bigger projects such as kingdom hearts and final fantasy! for a while back in 2009 twewy had achieved a spot in the gamespot top 10 best nintendo ds games, it was kind of fluctuating in its spot ;; twewy was in #1, then #3, then #10, then it bumped back up to #5! regardless, i think twewy definitely deserved its position because this is a game that has changed my life in its own weird way!

to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the original games release, square enix not only released a finrem anime in 2020, but in 2021, they came out with a sequel, simply titled NEO: the world ends with you (ntwewy/neotwewy)! with the release of ntwewy for switch, a switch port of the original game had come along!

both games follow a similar premise, but the playstyle and character designs are very different, but have their similarities.

both games follow this concept; someone is thrown into a limbo-purgatorial state in shibuya city, a special ward of the prefecture tokyo in japan. they're dead, but they're not exactly dead yet. they can see both the living (although cannot talk to them) and the dead- they're one step away from dying, but they're also one step away from returning back to life. they're in what's referred to by other people that they can communicate with the underground, an exact replica of the location the person died- shibuya. they're in a game called the reapers game and they have to get enough points within the span of a week in order to escape this game. theres multiple ways to rack up points, such as battling enemies called noise. these noise are created from negative energy by those in the real world, but can also be created/summoned by the people that watch over the game- the reapers!

this is an important detail that will play into me explaining ntwewy as a standalone so dont forget this, but the reapers in shibuya all have black bone-like wings. otherwise, they look completely human.

the reapers game though, is not entirely controlled by the reapers! the reapers are right hand men to ANOTHER right hand man- the conductor! the conductor is given orders by the one that REALLY runs the show, the composer. the composer is the one that creates ideas for the game, creates the rules, picks the players, and the conductors are the ones that bring the composers ideas to life, while the reapers are there to help execute them and make sure they go as planned. there are reapers that have to monitor OTHER reapers too! these are referred to as officers. every week whenever a new game is completed, one officer is selected to be considered the game master. they can slightly bend the rules and interact with the players. at the very last day of every week, the game master has to fight against the players. if they win, then they get sent to a literal limbo state, where their fate is decided. their points are counted, and the winner takes their leave, while the losers have the option to get erased or go again.

the reapers game has a set of rules, which are:

1. Weak players are erased even if they win. Some may simply throw away life and choose to be erased on their own will.

2. If a Player has done or participated in any illegal activities in the Game, they will be erased. Special exceptions may give them penalties, such as requiring them to play again, with no more chances to play anymore.

3. Players may become a Reaper. Most are recruited under Support class, but rare cases (Beat) can be recruited immediately into Harrier.

4. The Composer sets a pre-selected number of Players who may come back to life. The highest-scoring Players are able to choose this. While considered unusual, the Angels don't consider it to be a loss. The Player's art and music will find its way into their culture and increase the overall Imagination of the population. The Players aren't exactly reincarnated as the people of the UG are not dead, but simply tuned into a different Soul code.

5. Those players who completed the game but have not earned the right to be revived (due to the preselected number) may be allowed to play the Game again. Entry Fees are refunded to the survivors, but each Game requires one Entry Fee. This may or not be the same as the Player's original Entry Fee: it will always be the Player's most precious thing, but what that thing is may have changed over the course of the Game due to the Player's experiences.

6. The absolute best of the Players are given the honor of ascending into the Higher Plane. Reapers may also ascend to the rank of Angel, although exactly how they are chosen remains a secret.
