Did Mother mary cried?
The Virgin Mary suffered many sorrows and pains. Simeon announces to him that "a sword would pierce his heart" (Lk 2, 35). And the four evangelists narrate events that could not help but cause deep pain in Mary.
The book of Revelation describes the "Woman clothed with the sun, with the moon at her feet and crowned with a crown of twelve stars... and tells us that she "screamed in labor pains" (Ap 12,1_2). These pains are what the supernatural birth of the Church and the members of the mystical body of her Son produced in her. The birth where Mary receives us all as her children, occurred at the foot of the cross of her Beloved Son Jesus. And Mary, she will continue to suffer labor pains until her Son is born in all the hearts of men.
We know that Christ cried when predicting the ruin of Jerusalem (Lk 19,41) and that he also shed tears at the pain of Martha and Mary for the death of Lazarus (Jn 11,35). From the Holy Virgin Mary, the Gospels do not tell us so explicitly, but when they narrate painful situations in which she fully participated in her mission as associate to the work of redemption, that is, as co-redemptrix, we must conclude that if she really suffered, then she should have to have cried, shed many tears from her eyes so pure.
Crying is not imperfection when the reason for crying is holy. Crying is not the effect of weakness, but of fine sensitivity. Crying at the impulses of divine love is a gift from God, a gift that is only granted to great souls.
Saint Francis of Assisi cried so much for his sins that when one visits the Basilica of Santa María de los Ángeles, where the Porciúncula is located and other crucial places for the saint's life, we find a cave called "the chapel of the tears". This chapel is the cave where Saint Francis wept many times when contemplating himself as a sinner before the holiness of God.
Did Maria suffer?
_from his tender years to see the sins of the world and forgetfulness of God.
_on seeing the anxieties of S. José and on totally abandoning the defense of his cause to God.
_when seeing all the doors closed to the God who came to this world made man.
_on hearing the prophetic announcement that her Son was to be a sign of contradiction and that a sword would cross his own heart.
_by rushing out to Egypt to prevent Herod from murdering his Son.
_by living the three endless days of darkness having lost his Son in Jerusalem.
_when S. José died, who was his support, help and companion. The faithful and prudent servant.
_when she is left alone because her Son left Nazareth and begins his public life.
_ when he knows of all the mockery, attacks and persecutions that Jesus has for his teaching. Because of the unbelief, the harshness, the blindness, the obstinacy, the hatred, the hardness of the hearts that did not accept Jesus.
_ knowing Jesus imprisoned, betrayed, abandoned, whipped, crowned with thorns, sentenced to death.
_when meeting his Son, all destroyed, carrying a cross and on the way to the crucifixion.
_on seeing his son die on a cross.
_when they put him in his maternal lap.
_in the deep and bitter solitude of Holy Saturday, when she was left without the son of her entrails.
_on seeing the first blows received by the mystical Body of his Son, the Church. Knowing that the apostles were persecuted, whipped, stoned, imprisoned and martyred.
_when seeing that his stay on earth was prolonged and that his desire to be with his Son did not arrive.
A characteristic of Maria's love is that it is a faithful love and willing to go to the greatest pain for that love. And it is that Love that is not faithful in moments of pain, is appearance, farce, caricature of love. On the contrary, love that remains faithful in tribulation, in helplessness, in absence, in suffering, not only demonstrates itself as authentic and real love, but also purifies and purifies itself like gold in the crucible, increases and It grows like a flame that ignites dry wood, consolidates and strengthens like a stone that sinks its roots into the earth in winter.
The Blessed Virgin cried, and she cried a lot!! Mary wept in her earthly life and what is even more admirable, that although she is already in heaven enjoying the promise of consolation, she continues to weep for us and for the offenses that we men commit against her Son. In La Sallette, in the middle of the last century in a period during which Christianity in France faced increasing hostility. She cried at Fatima, when the children describe the sadness of the Virgin when she talks about how offended God is by sins and shows the little shepherds the horror of hell and how many souls are going to it. In Lourdes she has appeared crying, saddened and painful, exhorting penance to avoid tragedies and punishments for humanity. And in Syracuse, at the end of the Second World War, he wanted to work the singular miracle that a simple image cried real tears that could be observed and seen, and what is more prodigious, collected and analyzed, proving that it really was tears. of the same composition as human tears.
Also in that period mourns the image of the Virgin of Czestochowa, Poland. In Civitavecchia, a small town on the outskirts of Rome, only a few years ago, an image of the Virgin of Medjugorie cried Blood. Many images of the Mystic Rose have manifested tears of water and blood.
