Half-leather book with corners, handsewn capital band and graphite cut

I have finally finished this book!

Its about A4, maybe a bit larger and the pages as well as the endpapers are Bugra-deckle-edge paper in beige, light grey and darker grey. The upper edge has a graphite cut while the front and bottom have a natural cut. I've also hand sewn the capital band. The cover is half-leather, with the back and corners being red leather and the rest being printed marble paper in light grey with darker marbling and red details. I haven't decided whether i want a title so I've left it blank for now, but if i want one i can easily print it and glue it on the front later. All in all I'm really proud of this one even though I cased it in a bit lopsided but you barely notice anyways.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT ANY OF THOSE WORDS MEAN BUT I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

if this isnt too nosy what do u plan on doing with bookbinding?? in my head every book now is all just mass produced by machines but like :oo will u make journals by commission?? really cool expensive books like what the arion press does???? this just fascinates me all around, the only books i have that look like what u post (read: not some screen-printed paperback) are the falling apart 200 year old ones that i get from the bookstore in town and everytime u post u make me think that they could be NEW and people would actually pay PEOPLE to perform their CRAFT instead of MACHINES and i FEEL THINGS i love it

Thank you so so much!!!
Actually, making books is only part of bookbinding (surprise!). Pretty much anything paper goes through the hands of a bookbinder at some point.
While there are bookbinders working in the factories that mass produce books, my specialisation is small runs and special productions (That basically just means i get to work with my hands instead of working machines).
Most of that entails fixing books, making small runs or even single books for customers, making boxes, cases, binding master thesis' and other important documents, even making passepartouts and framing pictures among other things!
Personally, I'm hoping to get a job in an archive or library, since that would be a stable (maybe even government!) position with not too much customer service work. Though i can also imagine myself working in a small traditional bindery.
My favourite part of bookbinding is fixing old books and making them usable again, maybe even look new! Just reading about your falling apart books has my fingers tingling in excitement hehe!
I don't know where you live but i can almost guarantee your city has one or two of those! I didn't think they still existed before i started, and i was surprised to find out how many of them exist in my town! I encourage you to check online if there's a small bindery and go check it out if you can!
