my dad is so weird

so my great-granddad was a great chess player, and recently my dad found one of his old chess sets, and like. my dad doesnt rly know that much abt me, but he knows ive always been a little nerd, and i guess in his head all nerds like chess, cause he immediately decided i should have it. i told him i barely know the rules for how to move the pieces, much less any strategy or anything, but he was still eager to pass it on to me, and i like heirlooms, so i took it. then he found a second set of pieces, and sent them along to me as well. i joked I'd have to invent 4-man chess, but fr wtf am i gonna do w two sets of chess pieces. then he found another board and called up his aunt to find out why his granddad had 2 chess sets, which she explained, and then she asked if she could have one of the sets. my dad categorically refused because they were mine, but im just over here like i don't even have any use for one chess set!! i don't need two! so i said hey if she wants one I'm happy to let her have it, but then he kept insisting that if she rly wanted one she wouldve kept one years ago, and she's like 80 so there's no point giving it to her, and if i end up w no use for a second set i should pass one on to my brother, and im just. why!!! why can't she just have one! it was her dad's, she wants it, i don't, who cares if shes 80, she might live another 20 years and regardless, even if she dies next year, isnt it better that she gets to enjoy it for one year than let it gather dust on my shelf forever? i just. do not get it
