Oh man, oh man, oh man...! Oh, man!!! Where do I even begin!? It was just a wild day, and I am EXHAUSTED. So, it was really hot outside. We did our best, by taking umbrellas and plenty of water. I also packed my spray bottle and neck fan. The show took place at the Air Force base, which was pretty fun to go into and see all of the military personnel.
The first thing I did was go inside of a C-17! Then, my family found a shady spot under one of the wings of the aircraft on display, and we sat there for a while. Everyone was doing the same. It was really cool getting to sit so close to the B-52s, KC-135s, and stuff like that.
We watched all six hours of the airshow, which was absolutely fantastic. It had everything from parachuters, to acrobatics, to formations spewing colored smoke, and of course, the fighter jet flybys.
In between, I walked around a bunch of displays. They had everything from an experimental gyroplane to F-35s. One of my favorites was the Firehawk, which is pretty much an adapted Blackhawk for firefighting purposes. I got to go inside and see the cockpit. It was amazingly cool-looking.
We also ran into someone we met on the day that I flew in the D-Day plane! Speaking of which, that plane did a flyover as well. Anyways, we ran into the lady who told me about joining the Civil Air Patrol. And she was actually right next to their table! And the local squadron leader was there, so he invited me to come by to their next meeting.
Okay, so I DEFINITELY gotta talk about the air show. Oh my god.... There were so many amazing performers, and I loved every single one of them. I tried to take photos and videos but it was really difficult.
Anyways, my favorites were the Patriot jet team flying L-39s, the F-18s, the F-16s, F-22s, and F-35s, and the Thunderbird performance. Those jets were so majestically loud.... The maneuvers they were capable of.... Insane.
They'd fly straight up into the air, nosedive, spiral, swoop, get within what looked like mere feet of crashing headfirst into eachother. They flew past several times, setting off car alarms and making the ground shake. It was so EXHILARATING! That noise, that feeling, just all of it.... It's so AMAZING!!!
Once we got tired from the heat, we started heading back to the car. Aaaaand.... The car's battery was dead. Imagine the dread we felt there. We figured that since we were surrounded by military personnel that someone could help. But unfortunately, we were outta luck. My dad got frantic and started asking pretty much everyone for help until someone offered.
As soon as we got home, all of us just jumped onto the beds and couches and slept for a couple hours. I mean, we all woke up at 7:30 AM for this, and normally all of us in the household don't get up until 11.
I'm still really sore and tired from it all, and haven't had a chance to go through all of the photos just yet. But once I do, I'll be posting my favorites onto my Instagram!
Right, and I almost forgot to mention. On the way back home, we actually got to see the Patriot jet team flying overhead in formation, as they were leaving the base. It was really cool.
