So last Thursday/Friday, people started finding transphobic flyers
on campus at my university, and after getting a bunch of pictures of
different ones in different places I decided to roll up my sleeves and
send a big email to the Dean of Students about how she should like... do
something. It's technically misconduct to put up
inappropriate/crude/etc flyers in academic buildings and on school
bulletin boards without appropriate permission, and they've literally
suspended students for taking down permitted flyers before, so I know
they'll take action on this when they feel like it. I also cc'd the
LGBTQ+ center of the school cause I know them and know they'll put
pressure on the administration.
She sent me back an email
on Monday basically saying that they'll look into it but that it was
probably an "outsider" or "outside organization" because it would be
"disheartening to think a student would do this."
The problem
with that is there's literally multiple confirmed members of a neo-nazi
group on campus that we've warned them about before, and who have
literally disrupted campus events before (with zero repercussions). And
then right as the anti-trans flyers started going up, business cards for
that same group began going up as well! So I kind of sent that in an
email, being like "I know you don't want to believe this is connected to
students, but here's all this evidence this is a student problem. Most
of this evidence you have seen before."
Since that email on Monday... I have not gotten a reply. Lol.
Earlier
today I went to talk to the staff at the LGBTQ+ center before going and
trying to talk with the Dean of Students, and man I love the staff
there. The main director is such a great guy... while I was there, he
gave me his cell phone number in case I needed it, he's the one I wrote a
blog about before in that we experienced a hate crime together so we
have a bond B-)
But afterwards, I went to the Dean of
Student's office and she just wouldn't see me. Lol. At first they said
she was in meetings, so I asked if she would be available at any other
point today, and then they said that she couldn't see me without an
appointment. There was literally no one there. Oookay. So I went to go
talk to the Holocaust Center on campus, because the neo-nazi group's
card they put up literally has an iron cross on it (I'm not exaggerating
when I call them neo-nazis. They openly call themselves fascists). And
while they were interested in what I had to say, one of them was also
passive-aggressive about my LGBTQ+ student organization agreeing to sign
on with a pro-Palestine group on an agreement that our University
shouldn't be giving money to Lockheed Martin, AKA the company that makes
the military murder drones? Like it wasn't Palestine-specific... IDK.
It's just like... I'm here to talk to y'all about an actual threat to us
right here on campus and you gotta make it about the Israel-Palestine
conflict? I don't really get it. I'm ethnically Jewish. My mom practices
Judaism. I had family in the Holocaust. I'm focused on survival, man. I
figured y'all would agree.
But anyway, just a lot of nonsense. As per usual. Went and got my hair cut after. That was nice. Treated myself despite the fact I shouldn't and got a pack of boxer briefs with pockets on them I saw at Target. They have POCKETS!
