I kind of feel liek with the new wave of scene itz been a bit desensitized- liek the entirety of the scene iz fucked up thatz the whole thing (yes ik sometimez itz fucked up in the wrong wayz) liek, the entire culture of scene, as much as I h8 2 admit, was based around drugz nd sex nd alcohol, itz fucked up
But I feel liek with the new wave of scene (specifically "scenecore") itz kind of washed it down? Liek itz now more about kandi braceletz nd skirtz rather then the actual base of the culture (nd yes ik, kandi nd stuff is scene but I mean itz been changed 2 b entirely about it, some ppl just wear kandi nd try 2 call themselves scene which makez them a poser ngl, h8 2 say but itz the truth)
Liek, bacc then Ke$ha was a fucking icon, every1 wanted 2 b her (in the scene community)
Nd also this is a bit unrelated but also emo culture, (nd ik thiz is fucked up 2) the emo kidz used 2 post nd compare s/h scarz nd shit, that was there whole thing (why do u think ppl ask emoz 4 a wrist check???)
Itz the fucking culture, even if u don't do drugz or drink alcohol or hav sex u can still b scene as long as u listen 2 the music just don't fucking kid-ify it
Idkk how ppl will take this post as, idk if yall will either luv it or h8 it nd disagree but thatz kind of how I feel-
Itz so fucking desensitized

i’m not scene so i really don’t have a strong opinion on this but just to give you an outsider’s view: to me, it always seemed kinda childish. i don’t say that in a bad way at all, i think that’s really fun, but when you look at pictures of 2000s scene kids and a lot of them are younger tweens. maybe i’m completely wrong about that, so don’t take my opinion too seriously, but i just wanted to point it out. everything else you’re saying is true though
one more thing though about how people only wear kandi and call themselves scene - that may be true, and those people are posers, but some of them just have to be kids who don’t *really* get it and are genuinely trying their best. who knows though, you’re a more reliable source here lol. great blog!!

since its a music based subculture it seems like if you listen to the music ur good but yeh i 100% agree with what youre saying otherwise, except that i think its okay to move on from a lot of the worst stuff like grooming and sh and all that jazz. also i think that scenecore people arent scene posers unless theyre saying that scene=scenecore or that theyre scene, if theyre saying that theyre scenecore then they arent a poser cause they arent even trying to be scene idk if that made sense but yeh :3

the music is entirely about the alcohol and sex side of things but the mordernised 'aesthetic' completely disregards that!!
without the music youre not scene :3

Yeah, I agree. The whole sexual aspect seems to be much smaller nowadays. Now, I don't particularly mind that, as this is probably healthier for the tweens and young teens that interact with it, but scene culture does seem to have changed quite a bit. It feels more like a cutesy aesthetic nowadays. I also feel like the emo influences in scene culture are fading a bit.

imo scenecorr is just kidcore with bracelets and scene is the real deal but also yeah people rlly shouldn’t be basing a style around drugs sex and alcohol but literally the 2 biggest scene artists I can think of, millionaires and brokencyde, ALL their music was about that and they were a rlly big thing yet here come little like 13 yr olds slapping on bracelets and wearing big poofy ass tutus blasting hyperpop thinking they’re the shit

I don't know much about the history of Scene culture; I'm only speaking from what I know.
But this is the reason why Brokencyde and Hollywood Undead were so popular.
It took on the part angsty teen part frat boy image scene culture tried to promote.
Again, I don't know anything about the history of Scene so if I'm ignorant about anything please correct me

Yeah, it actually is, same with the millionaires kinda, they had the dream lifestyle back then 4 scene queenz

thts bc in the past it was heavily romanticized and the community was rlly genuinely toxic plus it was like """edgy""" for like no reason
basically it led to alot of not so good stuff and pedos comin in and it was rlly a mess

this; i watch some scene/emo tiktoks for outfit and hair ideas (bc i’m just getting back into my emo phase as an adult) and most of the comments are like “scene kids are so nice 🥹” like do you not understand that people HATED scene kids for a reason? it was the standard to be the nastiest bitch u could be and if you werent u were a poser.
AND they don’t know the difference between emo and scene and just call EVERYONE they see with black swoopy hair scene.
also i will die on the hill that scenecore/emocore aesthetics = posers that are too scared to research

I can see your point but most of the things that Scene was about when it first started (Drugs, Pro Ana, Grooming, etc) should be a thing left in the past and should not be in the culture any longer, but I can absolutely agree that people need to stop seeing Scene as childish when the origins are far from being childish.

Honestly I don’t care if people want to dress “scenecore” I just think it’s annoying when they try and say scene and scenecore are the same thing.

Absolutely. The scene is fucked up, but there are definitely places that the scene should be separated from, i.e grooming, pro-ana, blatant racism, queerbaiting, doxxing, and straight up bullying along with other bullshit. those things were carved into the scene so much its concerning. The scene is generally a taboo area, we used to be fucked up in all the wrong places that I listed, and some people want to keep it that way and make the scene a dangerous place to be for any minority or mentally ill person who turned to the scene as an escape could be tipped over the edge and perhaps harm themselves due to some edgelords who claim to be "scene" who think its funny to harass others. I find that thought terrifying. but I totally agree. They try to wash away all that we are as scene kids and try to make it squeaky clean of our history. Our history was fucked up.

i can kind of agree, but we need to leave the sh, and such in the past. we dont need those things to be scene, or emo. we can still be true to the roots of the subculture while recognizing that there are some things that need to go.
also i dont think thats what desensitized means
