Is FNAF overdeveloped?

Fnaf used to only be lined with a very thin sheet of lore. I think that was Scott's initial intention, but recently with the release of the books and security breach, I feel as if it has gotten out of hand. The point of fnaf was to be a retro horror with an old-school ted bundy like murder mystery attached, is renewing the freddy fazbear franchise for the 80s/90s REALLY a good way to continue the story??? I don't think so, especially when it removes the retro aspect.

Things I genuinely don't understand:
1. If  security breach is set in the 80s why is the Pizza Plex so advanced? Even by today's standards, it's advanced. For a company that went bankrupt several times throughout the timeline how could they afford such expensive animatronics. (Afton is barely alive and emily is probably dead, they were the ones who made the animatronics so who is making them now??)

2. Why not end the story? The monologue ending was perfect for the series and I believe that the idea of vanny starting an "afton" murder cult in fnaf vr could have been such a cool way to start a new story! Instead, we find out that Afton is still alive and everything is some sort of plot to kill this one random kid. Why would he go to such lengths to murder? I would think that he'd be smarter and wait for him to be resurrected by vanny instead of chasing after Gregory (aka his virus persona??? It was literally never mentioned again).

that's all ttyl
