Today was helicopter day! The weather was just perfect, and we got to fly without any doors. Literally just, better pray the seatbelt doesn't snap because we were a thousand feet up with no doors. It felt so fresh! Oh my god, and guess what!? There was a BLACKHAWK!!! AT!! THE AIRPORT!! And they were also doing training!
It was so much fun, I felt like I could hardly focus just watching the military helicopter fly around us. They were doing the same stuff as us, too. Traffic pattern, different approaches, hover techniques. It looked so freaking cool, I was so tempted to just be absolutely obnoxious and broadcast over the radio something akin to, "Hey, you over there! Blackhawk! I loooooove youuuuuu!"
Haha, anyways, it was tricky as always, but I think I am definitely slowly improving my skills. I felt like I got the hang of a hover for just a moment, just a flicker of a moment. I had it for about 5 seconds before losing it again. My straight-and-level flight also got better, but man, it is wild how just breathing too hard can really throw off the controls.
My arm was tensing up real bad, so we had to keep taking breaks for me to rest it. Oh yeah, and absolutely no motion sickness at all this time. Actually, my instructor was the one getting queasy, haha. I am sooorrryyyyyy!
Well anyways, it was a great flight and I had a delicious burger afterwards. Once I got home, I took a nap, then helped my dad with some yard work. I am still so exhausted, but I've gotta rest up cuz I've got another flight on Thursday.
I'm finally going to fly with my ground instructor, who got his CFI rating recently! And we're gonna go fly in a Piper, which I haven't done yet. I will also finally fill out my first page in my logbook, which is going to be a huge milestone! I can't wait!
