I'm a twenty-one year old dancer living in NY and I've currently been experiencing one of the worst droughts I have ever experienced in my whole time being in this industry. NY is already one of the toughest places to work as a dancer but post the unemployment wave it has been even worse. The ignorance and blatant racism you can expect to experience at some of these predominantly Hispanic clubs has reached an all time high. Not to put the downfall of dancing at the moment solely on clubs, I have to mention the broke, pathetic and women hating men that decide to bring their terrible energy, sick perversions and empty pockets inside many of ladies place of work. I respect all forms of hustling whether it be a 9-5 or an off the books kind of job. I just wish people would give dancers the same respect and understand that there is a lot invested into this shit for a lot of us. Never one to look for a handout or any form of pity but put some respect on our fucking names and stop playing with the kid 😂 We're here for your entertainment and to pay our bills as well, just remind your friends that.
