Sleeping In

Why hello, my loyal readers of darkness. From the bottom of my wretched heart, I would like to apologize. As you surely noticed, I missed a blog post yesterday, breaking my oath that I would speak to you every day, without fail. But, it was not out of sheer indolence or languor, but rather, it was an experiment. I steeled my will and endlessly combed through the entire catalogue of mystical tomes currently present in our arcane archive. ...Admittedly, my expertise in this category of books may be described by some as, perhaps, "inadequate," but through my perseverance was I rewarded, as I found precisely what I was searched for. An ancient text, as dusty and aromatic as you might expect, but it is that which is antiquated and venerable wherein the pinnacle of knowledge hides. What forbidden, accursed knowledge was contained within those pages, you ask? Why, none other than a perplexing, yet intriguing curse that induces a foul slumber upon its victim, one so powerful and fearsome that it could last for potentially years at a time! ...Eh? You know how to perform this curse already? ...It's from "Vexing Hexes For Perplexed Beginners Volume I?" ...I... Have no idea what you're talking about. No idea at all... Keheh..........

...Anyhow. With a carefully casted curse, I managed to put myself into a deep sleep for over 24 hours... I'm sure you're wondering why I would do something so seemingly foolish. Well I assure you, my reasoning is perfectly and entirely sophisticated. I was curious, you see, about the nature of dreaming. After our last conversation, I wondered... Perhaps dreams are only so perspicuously factitious due to their brevity. If one were to dream for a duration significantly longer than the typical 8 hours, perhaps they could eventually fool themselves into believing their dream had become reality, or perhaps reality had been a dream all along.

There was just one, infinitesimally small problem with my experiment... I didn't have a single dream the whole time... Gah, such an unfortunate outcome, after all that arduous set up for the curse... I suppose I will simply have to try again, strenuous though the process may be... ...Huh? You can't have dreams during a curse-induced slumber? I...  See... Perhaps I have no other choice than to seek other methods of rendering myself comatose... Say, how strong is your right hook, anyhow?
