I have a friend I always either talk to too much or not enough. She hit her head badly a few years ago. Since then, she has had false memories. She often talks about her past and then clarifies she doesn't mean her real past. We haven't spoken for a few weeks. She's suddenly forgotten tons of stuff like how to take HRT, what anime is and that I exist. Ada, who is a mutual friend with all my friends, a much better one than I am, told me.
Should I message her to explain who I am? That could be overwhelming. Should I wait for her to remember? Then she may think I didn't care enough to text her. Should I let her forget me? She only talks to three people. She remembers the other two. Maybe she forgot me because I'm a bad friend. It might be better this way. She had recently started getting better after a terrible year. Her amnesia might be part of her recovery.

you should let her know you guys used to be friends. I think she might feel abandoned otherwise. She didn’t choose to forget you, the fact that she did isn’t a judge of your character

I can't imagine how difficult that must be. Maybe do try messaging her, like a greeting at first and make small talk as to not try and overwhelm them. Then maybe slowly begin reminding them that you two were friends. That's just my advice though I can't be certain it'll work as I don't know the full nature of her situation. I hope her recovery is smooth and you two are able to remain friends. Take care
Thank you.
I think you're right. I'll try to do this
