INDIVIDUAL TRACK RATINGS

TRACK 1: DEATH - 8/10

There are some parts in the song where the lyrics just don't line up with the music and it just doesn't sound pleasant. Other than that I LOVE this song! Super catchy, I love the beat, lyrics are interesting as well. A good listen.

TRACK 2: VOID - 9/10

The MOST addictive chorus, stays stuck in my head 24/7. I love the lyrics so much!! Just like the first song, the instrumental is catchy and fun to listen to. I could sing this for forever. The only reason why I haven't ranked this song any higher is because I'm worried I'm starting to overplay it, along with the rest of the internet lol. COMPARE THE INSTRUMENTAL TO TRACK 12 (I will elaborate.)

TRACK 3: TUNNEL VISION - 7/10

An interesting intro! I like it though! The beat is reminiscent of her previous albums. This definitely feels like a Melanie Martinez beat. Not a very good sing along song. Definitely a good listen! I've had her whole album on repeat since it's been out, this one isn't very memorable for me but I should listen to it more because I really do like it! Long outro that I can't really get behind, just feels too long.

TRACK 4: FAERIE SOIREE - 4.5/10

I can't really vibe with this song, it just isn't for me. It isn't bad, just not my taste. Very airy and cute. It feels like I'm a little teletubbie ... teletubby? Idk. OH YOU KNOW WHAT IM THINKING OF??? The "look its you when you were a baby" puppet fairy thing. That is what this song makes me feel like.

TRACK 5: LIGHT SHOWER - 9/10

Wow. Phenomenal. Her vocals on this are incredible, this is an awesome addition to my sad playlist. I love a good sad song. I love the lyrics, the instrumental, everything. Like the first track, there are a few parts where the lyrics don't time right with the instrumental/beat and it fucks with me a little. All of the positives of this song definitely outweigh that small issue for me.

TRACK 6: SPIDER WEB - 8/10

Another one of my favorites. The instrumental on this is also reminiscent of her previous albums. I love the lyrics so much, a fun sing-a-long song. I did have to warm up to this one after my first listen but I ADORE it. At some points the instrumental kinda sounds like 2016? Don't know how I feel about that.

TRACK 7: LEECHES - 6.5/10

Not a memorable one for me. Slower. WAIT it out. WAIT for it to hit about one minute in. Very cinematic. I wouldn't listen to this regularly, but wow is it beautiful. It hurts to rank this so low because of how beautiful it sounds. SO pretty, ugh I can't get over it.

TRACK 8: BATTLE OF THE LARYNX - 6/10

This is a fan fav. UGH when it hits 50 seconds... <3 <3 <3 Its honestly not one of my favs. I do like it though. I think if I were to listen to it more then it would grow on me, because it is a really good song. Good lyrics, good sound, its a whole 5:28 which is long.

TRACK 9: THE CONTORTIONIST - 4/10

Nah, I just don't like this one. I don't like the lyrics that much, I don't like the bone-breaking sounds. I does feel very Melanie so I can respect that. The instrumental sounds good though. I feel like it could've been better.

TRACK 10: MOON CYCLE - 3/10

Another one I just CANNOT get behind, for reasons I feel like I don't have to explain. I understand it's supposed to directly reference Oliver Tree but STILL. I'M SORRY GIRL, all support, and more power to you, but not for me. Cool instrumental tho!

TRACK 11: NYMPHOLOGY - 10/10

This very well might be my favorite off of the album, right up there with VOID. I LOVE the lyrics, I LOVE the beat and the instrumental. JUST BE THE MANIC PIXIE DREAM GIRL THAT YOU FUCKIN OUGHTA BE!!!! There is not a single part of this song that I dislike. Do not even get me STARTED on the AMULET interlude at the end. SO FUCKING GOOD!!! A REAL 10/10!! BEAUTIFUL!!!

TRACK 12: EVIL - 8/10

At first I did not like this song. I CHANGED MY MIND IMMEDIATELY AFTER I NOTICED THE INSTRUMENTAL IS THE SAME AS VOID IN A DIFFERENT KEY!!! I am such a fucking geek, I live for reprises and foreshadowing and everything like that. I don't like how she says "refuse" feels a little infantized but that might be on purpose. I really love this song now. This is the only song she's confirmed that it's about Oliver Tree (I think it's the only one confirmed.) I love the message. This is also the only song from Melanie Martinez that my bf likes. 

TRACK 13: WOMB - 6.5/10

Sounds cool! I haven't listened to this one much, but I like it! Sounds a little bit like a 5SOS song LMAO, I love 5SOS so that isn't a bad thing. I like it! I should listen to this one more. A good song! Good lyrics, catchy, fun instrumental.

TRACK 14: POWDER - 3/10

....No....I'm so sorry, this is my first time listening to this but I do not like it. It isn't terrible, It sounds kinda cool at some points but as a full song I do not like it.

TRACK 15: PLUTO - 8/10

OOOHHH OKAYYY!!!! First listen rn, I am DIGGIN it. I like the lyrics!! God what a VIBE!! Thats the only way I know how to explain this... it's just a VIBE!! OMG JUST HIT 2:20 OH MY GOD A NEW FAV !! I am going to listen to this one a LOT more!! I love the beat and the instrumental WOWIE a GOOD one!!! 

TRACK 16: MILK OF THE SIREN - 8.5/10 

Oh wow.....wow... CHILLS... the LYRICS!! The INSTRUMENTAL!! I feel like I'm at a loss for words. This will go crazy live. UGH the electric guitar, DAMN. SO GOOD!!! Kinda feels like HBO's Euphoria lmao. I LOVE IT!!! Another new fav. SUCH a good listen!!

FULL ALBUM RATING - 8/10

If you want the actual rating based off of adding them all up to find the average, its 6.8, but I feel like thats too low so I rated it based off of my opinion. I LOVE this album. So many good songs, only a few skips for me personally. Portals is EASILY my favorite album from Melanie's discography. I feel like she's really grown with me. My music taste has evolved and so has her style. Crybaby has quite literally evolved too! If you've read this far I love you. Thank you so much for reading my shitty opinions <3
