poem #8

Run

Run

Stop

Breathe

Breathe deep into my lungs

Fill them to the brim with you

Like an animal I follow your scent

I would follow it to the end of the world

Chasing you like a dog

Like a dog hungry for its next meal

I run even though my feet are torn to pieces

The adrenaline of you keeps me running

Stop

Just for a moment

To catch my breath

Run again

Chasing you drains me

Drains the blood from my face when I loose your scent

I still run

I will always run

I call your name

Through the wind

Can you hear me

Can you hear the desperation

I listen for you

I know you’re gone

My ears crave your voice

My lips crave yours

When will I stop

When will you wait

When will it stop

Why won’t it stop
