1989/04/10 - Egypt's newspaper

I found on the internet archive a collection of Egyptian newspapers dated back to April 1989 and thought about sharing it through the blog!

1- "The national TV of Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic broadcasted yesterday (April 9th) about a series of demonstrations that started in Tbilisi and turned into a violent interaction between protesters and the forces which lead to losing 16 civilian and more than 100 were injured along with 90 from the forces and it's worth to notice that the protesters were demanding the country to be separated from the Soviet Union."

Tbilisi tragedy resulting in 21 deaths and hundreds of injuries. April 9 is now remembered as the Day of National Unity.

2- " The First Channel broadcasts the famous movie -between the sky and the earth- this evening. "

بين السما و الأرض or between the sky and earth is a 1959 Egyptian movie based on novel

by The Nobel Winner's Naguib Mahfouz.
the movie is centered on a group of people entering an elevator and remain stuck in it which lead them to reflect on their true selves and past decisions.

i think the movie idea was introduced alot in many movies like devil (2010), blackout (2008)

3- Sanyo Electrical fan ad. okay, this one is pretty nostalgic since it reminds me of my Grandmother's houses and especially the living room.

probably i will comeback later with more, it was interesting to see what happened today 33 years ago.
