Selamat pagi everyone! Today's aquarium trip was a success!! I didn't get to see many shorebirds, but it was still really fun.. I even got to pet a shark! å¸( ` īž ´ )å¸ ãĩãĄã¯ããããŧīŧ
so, again, this will be an image-heavy blog. It might load slow, or be a pain to scroll through! but i appreciate it if you'll stick around. (*īŋŖâŊīŋŖ)b ãããã¨ããããã¯ãŗīŧ
<â )))><< īŊīŊīŊåæ¯ããããžã§īŊīŊīŊ  >><(((â>
Ah, I used my phone camera for the indoor exhibits, so the real high quality stuff will be at the end!
When I got there there were green sea turtles, this one was a baby!! She was hit by a boat, so she had some deformities and buoyancy issue, and didn't seem to want to use her hind fins! still, she was full of energy and ate some lettuce. (o嫉`o) It's pretty cute.. I like sea turtles a lot, they're one of my favorite animals, so I was excited to see her! Green sea turtles are actually the only herbivorous kind, and they migrate as well.
ah, and here's a spiny lumpsucker! AH, maybe that's a weird change of pace? įĨããĒãã... (īŋŖ īŋŖ|||) Well, I also like lumpsuckers too!!
They're kind of cute, like little ping pong balls. They actually don't have any scales at all! Instead there's plate-like spikes which you can see, and the shown 'suction' cup is actually a disc made from evolved pelvic fins. So, pretty cool! my favorite kind of lumpsucker is actually the blue kind... I think you can keep them for pets!
ã ãããã㯠... čŦã īŧ
And then there was.. Solomon Island skink!! It's arboreal, meaning it lives mostly in the trees - this lizard also has a prehensile tail!! So, it has the nickname monkey-tailed skink also. I wish he was awake, I would've loved to see the prehensile tail! Ī(â§ÎĩâĻĪ)
So, like the green sea turtle, it's also the only herbivorous species of skink! Pretty amazing! there's nothing wrong with being herbivorous, since it's good for the ecosystem. There's a type of herbivorous lizard called Uromastyx, with a spiked tail that can pack a mean punch! they're a mean-tempered reptile, so don't let the food habit fool you.. (īŋŖâĄīŋŖã)
Then, I started heading outside.. it was pretty nice today! these native plants are brittlebush, there's so much of it... so, these outdoor pictures will be pretty yellow! We also get mustard plants on the hills in spring, so it's always golden this time of year. (â§ââ§)/
éģč˛ãĢčŧããĻãããããŠããŠčŧããĻãã...
What's outside? AH... mourning dove!?
Mourning doves, some of my favorite birds.. Ī(īŊâ´)Ī ãããã§ãããīŧ However, they're notoriously bad at building a nest.. (īŋŖ_īŋŖ|||) Sometimes a breeding pair will come to lay an egg on top of my, ahem.. lattice roof... well, the eggs don't hatch. It's a shame. Can we do better? This can't be good for your evolution...
Mourning doves also produce a whistling sounds with their wings when they take flight! I can always tell when they pass by. ( âĸĖ Ī âĸĖ )y
Ah, I also found a burrowing owl!
It's another one of my favorite birds.. Ī(ãâŊã*)âĒ
They let me get so close, I could hear it hooting.. somehow, I forgot owls swivel their heads, so it startled me! Burrowing owls actually live in colonies, and it can be up to 100 birds in one colony! Birds will scout above ground while the others hide out in burrows underground... They can also produce a rattlesnake call to fend off predators. It's pretty amazing to me. (īŋŖâŊīŋŖ)
There was also a colony of Cliff Swallows!! They build their nests on the sides of cliffs or houses out of mud, and usually they will build their houses together in one colony. So, everyone has a neighbor. (īŋŖâŊīŋŖ) I watched a swallow try to fly into the wrong nest on accident while another was feeding its babies, they got into a small fight over it... If a swallow has a hard time finding food, it'll watch its neighbors and follow after them! so, it's good to have a sense of community, too.
ã§ããã¨ãĒããŽã˛ã¨ãĢã¤ããžã¨ãããĒããããĢ
Afterward I went on a hike, there weren't many animals but it was beautiful anyway! I only saw one Great egret, but it flew away before I could get a picture. That's annoying as hell... (īŧ ´ãŧ`)īžīž
Well, in any case, I had a really good day! I wanna go to another aquarium, I really liked it... I also really want to go to the zoo, but my family will save it for special occasions since we go so often!!!! I also got some shark teeth and geodes from the gift shop, I'll have to post pictures when I'm not lazy. (ËâŊËīŧ)... I'M SLEEPY.. DEHYDRATED..
ããåŋããã
If you got this far... tell me an animal fact! Or let me know which animal you enjoyed the most!!
selamat malammm...

AH birds so cute ;_; and very good choice in favorite birds... a mourning dove would always come loaf on my patio railing in the mornings and i would be too reluctant to come out and water garden plants because i didnt want to disturb it lol

I'm always nervous to disturb them too!! The ones in nests usually aren't disturbed easily, but they can be pretty jumpy!
