Frustrated and Angry About the Lack of a Free Avast for Linux

Hey everyone,

I'm feeling incredibly frustrated and angry right now because of the lack of a free version of Avast for Linux. Let me start by giving you some background on why this is such a big deal for me.

I've been using Avast as my main antivirus software since I was 5 years old. I installed it on my personal computer, and it's been a constant presence in my life ever since. I'm used to the familiar user interface, the DOO-DOO-DOO notification sound, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing that my computer is protected from viruses and malware.

Now that I'm 13 years old and using LinuxFX 11 on my personal laptop, I've run into a problem: I can't afford to pay for the expensive business version of Avast that is available for Linux, and there doesn't seem to be a free version available for home users like me.

I know that there are other free antivirus options available for Linux, such as ClamAV and Sophos Home, but I just don't feel comfortable using them. I'm worried that they won't provide the same level of protection as Avast, and I'm frustrated that I can't use the software that I'm used to and comfortable with.

It's especially hard for me because I'm only 13 years old and I don't have a lot of money to spend on expensive software. I wish that Avast would consider releasing a free version for Linux that is suitable for home users like me. I understand that Avast is a business, and they need to make money to stay afloat, but it just seems unfair that they would forget about home Linux users like me who can't afford to pay for the business version.

That's why I'm asking for your help. If any of you have experienced the same issue or feel the same way as I do, please let me know in the comments. I would also appreciate it if someone could reach out to Avast support and inquire about the lack of a free version of Avast for Linux for home users like me. Maybe if enough of us voice our concerns, Avast will consider releasing a free version of their software for Linux that is accessible to everyone.

I know that there are bigger problems in the world than not having access to my favorite antivirus software, but right now, this is something that's really important to me. I'm angry and frustrated that I can't use the software that I'm used to and comfortable with, and I feel like I'm being excluded from the Linux community because of it.

It's frustrating to see that Avast offers a free version of their software for Windows and Mac users, but not for Linux users, which feels unfair and exclusionary to those of us who prefer the Linux operating system.

Thanks for listening.

.. You don't need an antivirus for linux. I'd probably give you 20 bucks if you could legitimately find and fall for linux malware.
Genuinely though, follow basic internet principles, use an adblocker and install packages from the package manager. You won't need anything more.
