SPOILERS, DUH!
Alright, we're halfway through Murder Drones season one! ...and we seem to be falling off a bit. A lot of people are now expressing their disappointment with the pacing of this episode. I will agree that this episode had some pacing issues. Some people said that this episode was filler? Um, no it wasn't! Honestly, I think this negativity should be expected for something like this; we're in the middle of the season and this timeframe is when people can get kinda lost. Anyway, onto the categories!
Plot: So, this episode takes place on a campsite. It's cool that they're putting the drones in other locations, and new outfits (I love the camper outfits!). Uzi "organized" this trip to explore more about what could've happened to Nori, only to get sidetracked by her Absolute Solver powers acting up. I'm glad we got to figure out why Doll is eating worker drones, since we learn that Absolute Solver drones will also overheat if they don't consume oil. One complaint, the other characters besides our main trio really didn't get to do much other than sneak out to make out and then get eaten in true horror style (also RIP Braiden). That's one thing I will praise, is the more classic horror style this episode has with the typical horror campsite setting, gore, and cannibalism. Uzi loses her control leading to N and V fending her off from the other students. Though when N comes around, she gains her control back. We see some flashbacks(?) of some sort for N, too. Apparently the next episode is supposed to be N focused! I'm excited for that. I also hope that we get to see J and Tessa next episode, they caught everyone off guard with them not showing up at all. I think this may mean that this episode was a bit of a blip in pacing. I'm still hopeful!
Questions/Theories: I still have some of the same questions from last post of course. However, I'm focused more on N now. Are we going to see what happened to him from his perspective before becoming a murder drone? He witnessed the singularity, so what does he know about that? Does he want to know? Will we ever get to see that tape? Who is CYN? Does Tessa have control over it? J had the symbol on her armband, so is she a part of the administration?
The Shipping Wars AGAIN: Well, I thought we were done with ship teasing in episode three, but I was clearly wrong. Geez, what do they want us to think? Doll mentioned that V was too good for N, and she appeared to be jealous when N and Uzi reconciled. Uzi and N obviously care about each other, that scene in the air was quite heartfelt. At the end of the episode we see Uzi hold hands with N briefly, though N flinches away likely because he was scared. Oh please, for the love of everything, this better not be a love triangle! There's too much happening in this show for there to be one! I prefer N and Uzi as friends, sorry. As for non-romantic relationships, I like V and Lizzie's mother-daughter dynamic, very cute! Also, why was N stealing everyone's hearts this episode?
Animation: It was good, as always! Now, this time I know for a fact that Kevin Temmer animated on this episode because he literally posted the shots he worked on on his channel. He does some good work! I wonder what it's like to have a YouTube famous industry professional animator on the team. Though, all the animators did a good job on this episode, in fact Temmer mentions that these are some of the most talented individuals he's ever seen! Keep it up, GLITCH!
The funny stuff: I didn't talk about humor last time for whatever reason, but I feel like talking about this episode's humor. Uzi getting yeeted by N was pretty funny, and I giggled a little too much over the splitting up book gag. Sorry, the dramatic music and camera work was too good! Also, the drone kissing N's shoulder during a tense moment was funny. I'm surprised to say it, but this show has a really good grip on both comedy and horror. The transitions between the two never feel clunky or weird.
Closing remarks/extra stuff: Though this episode felt a little aimless, I have a feeling that things are gonna pick up after this. The horror really got my heart pounding this time. I'm super excited that N is going to be the focus on the next episode. Also, this episode was a bit longer than the previous one, which is nice. I wonder where they'll take the drones for the next episode. Also new merch is out, there's a ton of cool stuff. Anyway I'm gonna go lie my head on my N head shaped pillow that I totally bought, bye. (N will forever be best boy.)
