(mild spoiler warning - no names mentioned though!)
so i finally am finishing this vn wahey!! main question is: why
does there have to be a sudden Huge amount of sad backstory exposition
for the main antagonist. like ?? i think it couldve been cooler if told
through tips throughout the rest of the chapters maybe! i get it, but
i've been putting off continuing this chapter for this reason, it's hard
to pay attention to the story of a character i dont really care all too
much about despite her tragic childhood.
i'm gonna keep going
though! this story and the writing style have really drawn me in. i'm
for sure gonna have to read umineko next, maybe while watching the
higurashi anime in my spare time...? we'll see ;) I might not be able to stand the anime version but I'll at least give it a go.

hahaha this arc is really weird. i saw someone say it's like the story turns into a corny action movie and i agree. i didn't like it as much as a lot of other chapters but it was still fun. i liked reading the antagonist's backstory, but i totally get being uninterested because it IS goofy and she is kind of a strange character in general.
part of the reason i sent you a request is because i'm going through the When They Cry series too! i'm on episode 2 of umineko, but i'm reading pretty slowly so you might catch up to me before i finish the question arcs. i hear the higurashi anime is pretty bad but i am hoping you find it more funny-bad than bad-bad. i'm looking forward to your future WTC thoughts ^_^
yeah it is huh!! I'm finally onto the fragments part and I have really enjoyed that tbh, I love making lists and crossing things off when the requirements are met <3 I also love the segments about characters we hadn't gotten the chance to see much of the perspective of! like satoshi of Course, and yknow as... odd as irie can be sometimes, his perspective in a lot of these past segments is really interesting.
& ooh that's cool!! I'm hoping to get onto umineko soon so it'll be nice having someone else experiencing it too :D and yeah I've heard the anime isn't great but I'll see if I can at least make some jokes out of it lol. I generally prefer reading stuff at my own pace anyway so I'm glad that the vns are typically better!

yeaaa it was nice seeing more of satoshi :D as for irie... my skin crawls when he is on screen 0_0 i'm just glad his weird personality was toned down for the serious parts. the fragments bit felt strange to play but i really liked how it worked in the story, YOURE taking an active role in higurashi instead of being a bystander just like [A CERTAIN SOMEONE OMITTED FOR SPOILERS]. it felt so freakin cool

YEAH I get you about irie lol, when he's serious I do appreciate how much he clearly cares about the people he treats, but any time he's there during the main story I feel like I'm just begging him to "please just be normal for once in ur goddamn life sir". like!! he could've just been a fun caring guy why's he have to be.. Like That!!
but anyway, yesss I enjoy the more active role as well!! I suppose on a more meta level, the reader is the perfect person to help put the fragments together - our lives aren't at stake here, if we get frustrated by the ending we can come back and try again later, it doesn't take nearly as much of a toll on us as it does for [the characters in question]. so it's kinda cool how they did that I think!!
