character analysis !!

this is why i in my genuine opinion of typical isekai webnovels/comics <the one that i'll be referring to a lot is; Return of the 8th class magician> have an issue with telling apart romantic and platonic love

First and foremost if you havent ever read a typical classic isekai comic or novel then let me lay out the basics for you. Theres this typically virgin man who gets killed in his sleep or by someone else as you see in 'Return of the 8th class magician' he in the first chapter gets killed by someone close to him. Now this is where things get interesting its either they personally cast a spell on themselves such as in 'The reincarnation of the strongest exorcist in another world' or they could have an outside force bring them in this is typically within the trope; a renowned kingdom is in need of heros (typically 3 sometimes 4) this happens in 'Rising of the shield hero', 'Campfire cooking in another world with my absurd skills' but i would like to focus on the 1st type as those normally would fall into what im about to say more than the 2nd type.

Typically in the 1st type i brought up they lived harsh lives prior to their reincarnation which prompts said reincarnation to happen. Due to this they probably had little to no romantic interactions in their previous life given we normally barely know their previous lives but in 'Return of the 8th class magician' it shows that mc had no time as he was the emperor's dog essentially doing everything for him and what not. This causes him to be oblivious to that of romantic behavior directed towards him (this is shown in when he interacts with the princess and she's clearly interested but he seems to not be aware). Not only this he had 1 parent growing up and his mother never married or had relationships with another man as she still loved his dad. Most children grow to see healthy relationships when they're young of course it's directly impacted by their parents more so than anything else my personal example is i had divorced parents who were constantly fighting and so i never understood what healthy love was supposed to look like and got myself in problematic relationships. But, since this man had no dad only a mom and he was never shown what a proper romantic relationship was besides strangers on the street showing PDA he was clearly confused on why the princess would feel any need to ask her brother about his interests and how he spends time. This CLEARLY in my genuine opinion and thought process is due to him not experiencing it at such a young age he was never exposed to those emotions and the result of that is misunderstanding and having to learn completely on his own of what it meant to go on and be romantically involved with people (as shown he gets with the princess in the end)
