★Writing Advice

If I was going to write something, in which the maincharacter (your perspective) is abusive and uncaring, but not to the reader, how would I do so? I want the reader to not be aware that the choices that the MC is making are bad, but at least be aware that they're morally grey so its believable. Does anyone have any advice on this? Especially how to make it believable, and not seem out of nowhere?
